1978 Master’s of social psychology from the University of Zurich
1982 Ph.D. from the University of Zurich (Dissertation: "Family therapy - contributions from the field of social psychology and developmental psychology")
1982-83 Lecturer for educational psychology at the Teachers College Basle
1982-85 Clinical psychologist at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Zurich
1985-88 Postdoctorate fellowship at the Department of Psychology, Stanford University, California
1988-95 Clinical researcher and family therapist at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Zurich
1992 Licence for practicing psychotherapy by the Swiss Psychological Association and the Department of Public Health of the Canton of Zurich
